The Wild Woman Archetype – Wild and Untamed

iSpeech

Who is the Wild Woman and how we can embody her archetypal wisdom, even when we are past or not reached the physical aspect of her phase.

The Wild Woman is instinctual.  She is primal, passionate, sassy, magical, deeply connected to earth and intolerant to bullshit.

The Wild Woman is untamed and an awakening soul who will not rest until she uncovers the truth of who she is.  She is a healer and a medicine woman.

She senses and intuits and a spectrum of feels without censoring herself.

Women have been censored, subdued, suppressed and ultimately tamed for a millennium.

The Wild Woman is ‘wild’ because she needs to be.  She runs headfirst into the heart of every experience, and she needs her wildness to negotiate the world she lives in.

The Wild Woman is desperate to be seen and heard… she has her own unique gifts she longs to share with you.

She is asking us to stand still, reflect, accept, and alchemise our experiences, so we can begin to heal.

How do we embody the Spirit of the Wild Woman?

The Wild Woman Archetype or spirit is the energy that women embody during the pre-menstruation part of the cycle, when your body is preparing to shed the lining of the uterus.  This is when our oestrogen dips and progesterone begins’ to rise. We feel like slowing right down. We have less energy, and you may even feel reclusive, more sensitive and critical in the days before your period.

The Wild Woman symbolises wholeness and is associated with the autumn phase of our menstrual cycle, the autumn of the year and the waning crescent moon.

The Wild Woman spirit is wild, unpredictable, emotional and powerful and as we move into our inner Autumn, it’s natural to turn within, to take stock…

Igniting Your Wild Autumn Superpower: to detect bullshit & discard what no longer serves

For those not experiencing a menstrual cycle, you can tune into the Wild Woman energy during the waning moon when the world is starting to slow down and get darker.  You can tap into her wild spirit by taking time to journal and reflect on what is not working.  This is also a good time to prepare for the next phase as we start to make space for more of what we want.

Most of us love autumn as a season, the leaves start to turn and flutter to the ground and the world turns golden.  We find ourselves wrapping up a bit more warmly and finding more time to be cosey at home.

Autumn is also a time for letting go of what no longer serves us. A time to practice getting out of the way and allowing spirit to guide us.

So why not embrace your inner wild woman during your inner autumn and let her be your guide to slowing down, snuggling up and let her show you what inner leaves need to fall away.

This is the perfect time to shine a light on what has not been working during our spring and summer phases (which can be uncomfortable to process) and course correct.

So how do we coax out our Inner Wild Woman and nurture her emergence?

The Wild Woman stands firmly, rooted in her own power, reclaiming her freedom and stripping away what no longer serves.

We can bring our inner Wild Woman to life by...

  • Feeling all your feels, and valuing them—because each one has a lesson to teach us
  • Spend time in contemplation
  • Cut down on Stimulation and Unplug (less screen time, more stillness)
  • Explore your shadow, and bring them to the light
  • Nurture and nourish your body
  • Spending time in the wilds of nature
  • Strengthen your throat chakra

The idea is to nurture the emergence of your inner Wild Woman at the pre-menstrual stage and support the emergence of this wild archetype or during the waning Moon phases, honour and nurture your own needs.  The practice is about self-nurturing and creating the space for the wild woman to emerge and allow her healthy aspects to develop with the support of your body and emotions.

Many women dread the pre-menstrual part of their cycle as it can be physically painful, emotional, and often amplifies our shadow aspects.

The Wild Woman in you will emerge exactly how you need her to, because she is medicine for our soul and will shine a light on what no longer serves, so we can strip it away.

The Autumn phase of our menstrual cycle is about self-reflection and letting go of what we don’t need instead of putting out energy into the world, it is a time to explore our shadow, which parts that we hide and that need our attention

By heeding the call of the Wild Woman Archetype at this stage of our menstrual cycle and not resisting her need to slow down and start going inwards, we may be able to circumvent the dark and destructive behaviours that are deemed as irrational, by allowing her to be seen and heard.

It is when we battle against our inner Wild Woman that we cause ourselves pain.

She wants us to feel our pain and address the root cause, because this is the only way we can heal ourselves.

Maybe it is time to stop resisting her and listen.  She is a powerful force and has much to teach us.

The Feminine archetypes are portals to accessing our inner power, their imagery awakens within us energies and inspiration, that give us insight into our strengths and our shadow.

They are medicine for our human experience that transcends the limits of time and space.

The idea is to use archetypal wisdom as tool for stepping into the energy of the empowered feminine at any time! When you are in alignment with your feminine power this is when we gain access the most sacred experience of all... being a woman and embodying our full potential.

The invitation is to get to know yourself, make friends with yourself, and most importantly learn to trust yourself!

When we begin to align ourselves more closely with what we are called to do and be, working with our shifting cyclical energies is our superpower.

We all have our own inner goddess and working with a specific Goddess, gives our inner divine feminine extra va va voom. Take some time to explore the nurturing wisdom of the Wild Woman Goddesses below and see who comes forward to light your path ahead.

Wild Woman Goddess you can access for accessing your inner wild:

  • Artemis
  • Diana
  • Freya
  • Kali
  • Pele
  • Sekhmet
  • Oya

For me the wild woman spirit has depth, the more we nurture her wild presence, the deeper she will take you.

The Wild Woman, truly is where we start to unpick or unlearn behaviours that no longer serve our purpose, giving space for us to connect with our true essence, including connecting into our sacred sexuality.  The wild woman helps us to alchemise our rage and channel it in a productive way.  She teaches us to say no and honour our needs.

I'd love to hear who resonates with you.. leave your comments below.

Till next week, when I share with you the magic of the Crone Spirit.

May your inner goddess continue to rise within you and light your way ahead!

The Mother Archetype – Sacred Caretaker

iSpeech.org

Who is the Mother and how can you embody her archetypal wisdom, even when you are past the physical aspect of her phase....?

The mother simply glows.  She is sensual, abundant, and bursting with fertility.

She is deeply connected to the earth, and all of life.

She represents creativity, birth and the cycle of growth.  When we allow the Mother Goddess to emerge, we feel inspired to spend time nurturing our body, mind, and spirit as a priority.  When we take care of ourselves, this is a micro-expression of caring for Mother Earth.  It is only when we nurture ourselves that we can truly begin to make positive and far-reaching changes.

When we tap into her cosmic personality, we see that her strength lies in her nurturing presence and not control.  She encompasses inner strength, wisdom, artfulness, and sacred caretaking.  She allows what she has created to bloom in its own divine time.  This is what creation is really about; co-creating something with the divine, that is one day able to sustain itself without our presence.

How do we embody the Mother Archetype?

The Mother archetype is the energy that women embody during the ovulatory Phase of the menstrual cycle - this is where we find a glowier version of ourselves and we feel like Superwoman and can handle multiple aspects of life at one time.

The Mother symbolises abundance and is associated with the summer phase of our menstrual cycle, the Summertime of the year and the Full Moon

This is when we say YES to just about everything!  We have heaps of energy, we feel like socialising and multitasking.

As we move into our inner Summer phase, we are ready to shine shine shine!  A time when you are looking and feeling your best, so why no flaunt it!

Your shiny Summer Superpower: to enjoy the ride and look your best while doing it!

The idea is to use archetypal wisdom as tool for stepping into the energy of the empowered feminine at any time! When you are in alignment with your feminine power this is when we gain access the most sacred experience of a

The Mother stands firmly, rooted in her own power to sustain what she has created allowing it bloom in its own right.  We can bring our inner Mother to life by...

  • Making more time for ourselves and our desires
  • Spending more time in nature and replenish our energies
  • Exploring our creativity
  • Deciding what we need to prioritise in our life, and simplify things
  • Clear out any distractions, so we create space for more of what we really want
  • Chart your menstrual cycle (so you can feel more in tune with Mother Earth)
  • Weave more ritual practice into our life by celebrating the new and full moon, the sabbaths.
  • Involve yourself in community activities.

The idea is to nurture the emergence of your inner Mother at the ovulation stage and allow her healthy aspects to develop with the support of your body and emotions.   When we harness and maximise the mothers’ positive aspects, the easier it becomes to embody her archetypal energy during this part of our cycle and the simpler it becomes to propel ourselves forward in life.

At another stage in our cycle, this same outward high vibing, nurturing energy would feel like a huge effort, because your whole being (including the natural cycles of nature) will be urging you to slow down.

The Feminine archetypes are portals to accessing our inner power, their imagery awakens within us energies and inspiration, that give us insight into our strengths and weaknesses. They are medicine for our human experience that transcends the limits of time and space.

Mother Goddesses you can access for nurturing wisdom:

  • Gaia
  • Lakshmi
  • Demeter
  • Parvati
  • Hera
  • Yemaya
  • Isis
  • Mother Mary

The Mother is considered by many Wiccans to be the most powerful of the Triple Goddess.

For me the mother goddess is possibly the most dynamic of all the archetypes - she is the cornerstone to the past, present and the future.  The healing we do in the present not only releases us from any baggage our lineage carries, but our future generations as well.

I'd love to hear who resonates with you.. leave your comments below.

The Maiden Archetype – Embracing Individuality

iSpeech

Who is the Maiden and how can you embody her archetypal wisdom, even when you are past the physical aspect of her phase....?

The Maiden represents new beginnings.  She is young at heart, full of optimism and energy.  She is self-reliant and embodies independence, strength and confidence. She teaches us to stand up for ourselves and pursue what we believe in.

There is a sense of playfulness and curiosity about her as she explores her world.

The Maiden is that precious part within each one of us that is our innocence, purity, and raw energy.

How do we embody the Maiden?

The Maiden archetype is the energy that women embody during the pre-ovulation phase of the menstrual cycle - this is when we have an extra spring in our step.

The Maiden symbolises rebirth and is associated with the spring phase of our menstrual cycle, the springtime of the year and the crescent-to-waxing phase of the Moon.

As we move into our personal spring phase, we are ready slowly re-enter the world to start planning and organizing the month ahead. It’s during this phase we start to feel more energetic, motivated, full of optimism and ideas as our oestrogen starts to rise.  When embodied, this archetype appears to easily juggle a whole stack of interesting projects and activities.

We can imagine the fresh, rising energy of an emerging young woman, full of enthusiasm and authenticity…. Take a moment to imagine this vibrant energy and breath it in, allowing it to stir your senses.

Your Spring Superpower: to bedazzle everyone with your magnetic appeal!

Now is the perfect time to get curious and to think big: what can you change in your life for the better and plan how you can make it happen.

So how do we coax out our Inner Maiden and nurture her emergence?

The Maiden stands firmly, rooted in her own power and will bedazzle everyone with her magnetic appeal, attracting opportunities and people with ease. We can bring our inner maiden to life by...

  • Being assertive (asking for what you want)
  • Making plans and being social
  • Making conscious choices – surrounding ourselves with inspiring messages, people & vibrations
  • Taking time to discover our unique gifts
  • Celebrating the success of others
  • Dressing up! Adorning and anointing ourselves (Dressing in ways that make you like your truest and most beautiful self)
  • Being flexible and adaptable.
  • Taking time to unwind.
  • Strengthening your Solar Plexus, the seat of your personal power and self esteem through mediation.

The idea is to nurture the emergence of your inner Maiden at the pre-ovulation stage and allow her healthy aspects to develop with the support of your body and emotions.   When we harnes and maximise the maidens’ positive aspects, the easier it becomes to embody her archetypal energy during this part of our cycle and the simpler it becomes to propel ourself forward in life.

At another stage in our cycle, this same vibrant, creative, assertive energy would feel like an huge effort, because your whole being (including the natural cycles of nature) will be urging you to slow down.

The Feminine archetypes are portals to accessing our inner power, their imagery awakens within us energies and inspiration, that give us insight into our strengths and weaknesses. Archetypes are medicine for our human experience that transcends the limits of time and space.

The invitation is to get to know yourself, make friends with yourself, and most importantly learn to trust yourself!

Archetypes are timeless and it doesn’t matter how old you are you can embody the maiden at any stage of your life!

The idea is to use archetypal wisdom as tool for stepping into the energy of the empowered feminine at any time! When you are in alignment with your feminine power this is when we gain access the most sacred experience of all... being a woman and embodying our full potential.

We all have our own inner goddess and working with a specific Goddess, gives our inner divine feminine extra va va voom. Take some time to explore the energy of the Maiden Goddesses below and see who comes forward to light your path ahead.

The Wolf Speaks – Deep Diving with The Little Mermaid

iSpeech

One of the things I love, is stories (and books of course, I seem to collect them to read later!)

Stories are powerful tools, where we can learn life lessons, morals, and values.

Every great story since the beginning of time includes archetypes and we can identify with these archetypes on a collective level.  It’s through the archetypes in stories that we can begin to sculpt an understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

I recently bought Beneath the Moon: Fairy Tales, Myths, and Divine Stories from Around the world, which has been written and beautifully illustrated by Yoshi Yoshitani.

Out of the stories I have read so far, the Little Mermaid, a Danish Fairy Tale originally written by Hans Christian Anderson and published in 1837, caught my attention.

We all know the Disney version of this story; Ariel is a mermaid who dreams of living on land.  She rescues a prince from drowning and falls madly in love with him.  She takes a gamble, and strikes a bargain, with Ursula, the evil sea witch.  Fully aware of the risks, she trades in her beautiful voice for legs, so she can be part of the human world and win the love of the prince she rescued.  In the Disney story, love wins the day and they both live happily ever after.

The original story has no happy ending, and your heart breaks for the mermaid who agreed to pay the price the wicked witch of the sea demands, for love, unrequited.

The Little Mermaid is unable to win the love of the prince, watches him marry another and the Little Mermaid dies and is turned to sea foam.  Apparently, Hans Christian Anderson revised the ending to a more hopeful conclusion, where the Little Mermaid becomes a daughter of air and earns a soul, something she wanted all along.

I was a little sad at the ending and I began to think about what the moral of the story was, what are the lessons and what was the story reflecting back at me.

The timing of reading this story, was rather curious.  The book arrived on International Women’s Day, which was the day after our first Goddess Archetype Workshop and before our deep dive into the maiden archetype.

I felt like there was not only some personal introspection required, but a collective message here to investigate.

Disney Movies (of the past) have adjusted the true value of stories, by appealing to our sense of romance, adventure, and the fight against good and evil.  In the retelling of these stories, the truth and depth has been compromised.  The morals, values and lessons have been re-written to disempower the feminine (and the masculine).  The Little Mermaid was determined to ‘change’ herself and give up everything for the love of a man she hardly knew, even knowing the risks.

This retelling has entrapped women into believing that we need a hero to save us and to be dependent on the love of another.  On the flipside the powerless female character is what the masculine is taught to desire.

The true meaning of the Little Mermaid has been covered up and denies us the moral of the story and encourages women to change ourselves to suit the mainstream narrative and to give in and lose our voice.  In the movie, girls are encouraged to change themselves, even ‘silence’ themselves in the name of love.

Women are not damsels in distress. We are not powerless, and we do not need saving.  We can save ourselves, by appreciating and loving ourselves first.

Women have given up a lot of their innate magic to suit the patriarchal narrative.  To fit a script that tells us we are not good enough, that we need to look a certain way and more specifically we need to take on attributes of the masculine to make it in this world.

Women have had their voices silenced , their unique feminine magic overidden and changed themselves to fit into the patriachal paradigm.

We step into our wholeness by following our hearts and what we truly want and rejecting the perverted version of what society has told us we want…

We often allow ourselves to get into situations where we lose our voices and our authenticity.

For me the moral of the story is when we give up so much of ourselves, in order to fit in, we curtail our freedom and give up our authenticity and override our innate feminine magic.

We need to think hard about how much of our personal and collective value we have given away, including our voices to fit in?

Where have we give up our magical depths and our feminine ebb and flow… for something that has taken our true magic from us?

I went on to read many different opinions and theories on the original story, some offered hope from a more spiritual perspective, others felt it articulated the harsh consequences stemming from impulsive actions of the mermaid.  Some even argued that in the end, her good deeds gave her what she wanted, eternal life.

Another thought was that the more bittersweet the ending, the more realistic it is.  We cannot make people love us and we need to learn to live with that fact.  The best we can do is act gracefully towards them.

My belief is, that stories reflect back to us what we need to know or consider, and my interpretation will be different to anyone else’s, based on my own personal narrative.

In the Tarot of the Divine by Yoshi Yoshitani, the little Mermaid represents the Fool, who is carefree and excited about life regardless of the warnings.  You see the mermaid depicted in the card, sitting on a rock looking up a castle on a high mountain top - a castle in the sky.

For me the moral of the story is a warning.  A warning to not to give up parts of ourselves for the sake of another (or the mainstream patriarchal narrative).  To slow down and think before we rush in and to not create dreams, hopes, or plans that are impossible or unrealistic.

The Little Mermaid represents the Maiden Archetype.  This Archetype displays a youthful effervescence and determination.  She has a sense of curiosity, which she uses to explore the world around her.  She is creative and has an instinctive approach to the world; however, lacks experience.  The world is your oyster when you are a maiden.

The shadow aspect of the maiden is self-centred.  All her energy is expended on achieving her own personal needs and goals.  She struggles to realize her full potential and she tends to be fearful and co-dependent.  She does not consider the consequences and trusts it will all work out.

If I reflect on my own personal story.  I identify with the shadow aspect of the Maiden.  Having grown up in a restrictive religion (you can read about my story here) then desperately trying to escape, I started to look for love in the wrong places, looking for a hero to save me.  I became co-dependant, lacked boundaries and sought validation in all the wrong places.  Determined to live my life on my own terms, I ignored all the warning signs, even my intuitive ones.

Where have you given up your voice to keep the peace and fit in?  Where have you knowingly given up your deepest feminine attributes to fit into patriarchal society?

I’m sure there are many other threads to unpick in this very profound fairy tale…

What personal connection do you have to the story? What part resonates with you the most?

I’d love to hear your thoughts…

Hello Dear Ones

May has arrived and here in the Northern Hemisphere, we have just celebrated Beltane, a Celtic festival celebrating the midpoint of Spring!

Beltane brings in the feeling of vitality. The days are longer and the sunshine warms us and the land. This is the season that ignites our feelings of joy, passion, spontaneity, enthusiasm and fun… and to celebrate all the pleasures of being alive.

Take a moment to feel into this vibrant energy.  Breath it in and ask yourself what is currently lighting your spirit up?  What is bringing you joy in this very moment?

<3

I don’t know about you, but I am still working from home. Still trying to keep Henri, the dog, quiet while I am in an important meeting. Still having days on end where I only leave the house to take Henri for a walk.

In the last few days, it has been the full moon in Scorpio, Pluto Retrograde has started and we are heading towards the end of our Goddess workshops which means shadow work.

I know summer is here, but it does feel like shadow work is calling me. I feel a heaviness in my heart and a real need to move on. I am feeling the Crone energy coming through strongly.

Last month I mentioned to you that I have started felting again as a meditative process, but of course, it is also tapping into my creativity. Beltane is a time of fertility, creativity and just having fun. You will be reading this after the 1st of May has been, but the Beltane energy remains with us for some time after the date has passed. Use this time to have fun, be creative (even if you think you are not a creative person) and start thinking about what you would like to manifest in this season of sunshine.

As I write it is pouring with rain... no warm spring vibes today, but listening to the rain has brought a sense of calm and serenity to what has felt like a non-stop weekend of doing!

April brought in some fast-paced vibrant energy, which is overflowing into May in chariot loads, and what lies ahead feels like an endless list of to-dos, as the seeds I planted earlier this year start to emerge.

Learning to surrender to what is and to take time to slow down to enjoy the moment or even indulging in an afternoon nap is key to getting things done.  Powering through is not always beneficial to getting things done and honouring our personal flow can help increase our productivity.  We are human beings... not human doings!

Now that May has firmly kicked off and we are free to roam the countryside (here in the UK) and get back to... what was it we did before lock-down again? 😉 It's such a good feeling to be able to hit the road and explore.

I am working on a project with a fellow witchy sister, to bring to life the stories of those who were put to death under the Witchcraft Act in the 16th and 17th century, in a series of images.  Our adventures will take us all over Scotland, as we visit the sights of where the trials took place to uncover and feel into the stories that need to be told.  Our intention and deepest desire is to recode the word witch, honour those who were tragically put to death and bring healing to the collective witch wound.

May is turning out to be a very exciting month indeed, as this month I also embark on Reiki Teacher Training and I am looking forward to working with a wonderful teacher who will bring so much expansion to my already eclectic training.  I look forward to this expansive journey and expanding my offering to bringing you reiki training in the near future.

Finally, there is the launch of our exciting new offering below...!   Wishing you the joyous vibes of the season!

Sending you all so much love

The Owls Witchy Tip

A simple creative activity is to take stones or shells or flowers or even just dropped pine cones and then using these to make a spiral. This process connects you to nature, releases those creative juices and hopefully inspires you to try something else.

The Wolfs Wild Tip

It is said that Beltane is much like Samhain and the portal to other realms are at their thinnest and in particular to the realm of the nature spirits  (spirits of flowers and trees, of waterfalls and woods. This includes the realm of the fairies, dryads, elves) Which makes May a great time to connect with the nature spirits.

Go for a walk in a park or wooded area and imagine all the trees, plants and animals are inhabited with spirits, kind and natural. Connect into their presence. Feel what it might like to be them. Like the old majestic, patient and wise tree. Or the flighty, almost nervous, small bird.

Hello Dear Ones

We have entered April with the exciting news that some restrictions are being lifted here in the UK.  Spring is in the air and life feels vibrant and full of possibilities!  (Even if it has been sub-zero temperatures and snowing here in Scotland!)

Aries Season is upon us, bringing in a fast-paced energy, which can feel like a bit of a whirlwind at times, so do take some time to ground yourself, this month.   Aries is also heralding in new beginnings and the cosmic energies are inviting us to start a new chapter in our life.  What changes are you being called to create in your life?

As we re-enter life, after the last few months of enforced winter hibernation, take things at your own pace and be gentle with yourself ... just as it took us time to find new ways of coping during lockdown, we will need to take our time to feel into reconnecting with life.

<3

I have been reading the April chapter in A Spell in the Wild and this month she talks about shape-shifting woman. I have been thinking about shapeshifting for a while; last year I did a meditation that guided me through shapeshifting, and it was one of the most powerful meditations I had done for a while.

Isobel Gowdie in 1662 told stories of how she shapeshifted into a hare to carry out her spell work. I am not quite at that stage, but I still think there is merit in experiencing our environment as another creature.

The past few weeks we have been exploring the Goddess archetypes, with last Sunday being the Mother. Fionn took us on a journey where we healed our mother and grandmother. I wasn’t shapeshifting into them, but just having that connection made me experience a little of what I think they may have struggled through and that was powerful. I came out of that very brief experience having much more compassion for them.

I have started felting again, this time using the fibres to create dolls. I am spending hours with each face trying to bring the character out, then making the body and dress. These dolls are filled with herbs and flowers I have collected and dried. I am using the process of creating the doll as another way of connecting with the archetypes we are working with. The process of needle felting is meditation in itself as it is repetitive and requires very little skill.

So, while I am not making a pact with the devil and turning into a hare to carry out his work, I am using these experiences to transform myself and explore what I want to become.

Enjoy the awakening of nature this month, remember to stop and pay attention.

With lots of love

I became very fond of the Tower Card during March!  Its regular appearance throughout the month has taught me not to resist change and to allow what needs to fall away, to fall away.  So now, it's time to rebuild healthier foundations.  Which is in perfect alignment with the Aries theme of new chapters.

Belinda and I have been leading our Goddess Workshops, which has been truly inspirational to witness each sisters commitment to the work and their transformation thus far.  Whilst we embody traits from all the goddess archetypes we are working with, some may be more dominant than others, it is through accessing the energy of these archetypes and goddesses, that we can gain a greater insight into the intimate truths of our own psyches, and become our own heroines!

This week we finished working with the Mother Archetype, which brought a deeper reflection on how this archetype is the foundation to healing the past, present and future.  She is potent and truly transformational.

Next up is the Wild Woman, which feels rather apt for me as I rebuild healthier foundations for the future.  This will be a key time for me to reflect on what is deeply important to me and what's not and by making a deeper commitment to begin honouring myself by not going against my instincts.

Sending you all so much love

The Owls Witchy Tip

Daisies are appearing everywhere at the moment. Pick a jar full, cover with sweet almond oil and leave in a dark place for a few weeks. Strain and it is ready to use.

I use it with an equal quantity of coconut oil and a few drops of essential oil to make a body oil. Just heat the coconut oil until it is a liquid, add the sweet almond oil and add the essential oil.

The Wolfs Wild Tip

On the Medicine Wheel, Spring is the time of infancy and childhood.  What better time than to reconnect with your inner child and remember how to play again.

Get creative!  Get the paints out and do some finger painting or go outside and blow bubbles!  (this one I love doing)

Get curious.  Go outside and explore somewhere new or sit outside and quietly observe what's happening in nature.

Take out some photos of when you were a kid and remember your inner magic!

Oracle Card of the Month

Jewelled Web – Shamans Dream Oracle
This card speaks of connectivity, no separation and the feeling state.  We can see in the card, there is a shimmering web of jewels we didn't know existed.

April / Aries season is about brand new beginnings and as lock-down restrictions are beginning to lift here in the UK, it's time to start considering our re-entry into life. Where it took us time to find new ways of coping during the lockdown, we need to take our time and feel into reconnecting with life outside our front doors.  We may be feeling nervous about socialising again after so long... just focus on the now.

We are not separate and we are in this together.

May April bless you with good health and happy moments!

Blessed Be

February 2021 – Newsletter

iSpeech.org

Hello Dear Ones

Welcome to our February Newsletter. We have managed to make it through January… more or less intact, maybe with a few more bumps and bruises that we would have liked!

It’s now more than halfway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. I can hear a few hoorays! I know I am certainly excited to see the light starting to return.

February is a transitional time, a tipping point, a time for letting go of the old, to make space for the new. You can already sense the change in the air, the evenings are getting lighter and we are starting to feel ourselves waking from our winter hibernation.

In ancient Roman times, February was known as the “Month of Purification”. February is still considered to be the month for cleansing and purging ourselves from any residual negativity. This makes February an excellent month to balance our Chakras (link in the recommendations) or consider a ritual or spell for health. It’s also a good time to eat right, get plenty of rest, stay active mentally and physically.

It's February, can you believe it? I always think that when February is gone then the rest of the year just flies by. So, what's my intention for February? To live every minute of it, to feel every minute of it, to be awake. I love waiting to see the first snowdrop, that is always the highlight of February for me.

And January? Well, it was a dismal, COVID, America, the ice. But it was also magical. Just watching the snowfall and then seeing the dog trying to navigate it once it had turned to ice. Watching the birds coming for food. And noticing the first buds on the honeysuckle. I received a delivery of seeds, they are waiting to be planted, it is exciting to think about summer and what the garden could look like.

And then the inauguration and Amanda Gorman!  If you did not see it, the link to a video of it is included below. The hill we climb was just wonderful: " For there is always light. If only we're brave enough to see it. If only we're brave enough to be it."

I don't know about you, but between Amanda Gorman and Kamala Harris, I was very proud to be a woman that day.

My message for you this month is to enjoy the returning of the light and to be the light.

Living in the UK for the last 11 years, I have come to associate February with a liminal space… it’s still winter, but not quite spring. A space where nature begins to wiggle her toes and fingers before she takes a soul-satisfying stretch and slowly starts to unfurl from the depths of her slumber.

January has been… well simply rubbish. Lockdown here in the UK has certainly been a challenge, amplified by the long winter nights, it has often felt like the walls have been closing in. But this has leant itself to tipping the situation on its head and looking for creative ways to negotiate these unusual times.

January brought with it some interesting synchronicities. While feeling into the energy for February, the word sovereignty came through and more recently it has appeared in books, Oracle Cards and at a recent Cacao Ceremony, I attended.

It felt like this word was trying to get my attention. *woohooo* I am over here. Don’t you love it when the universe winks at you…

Stepping into our sovereignty means that we are free of the illusions of being something that we are not.  It means we are complete; we are the creators of our own destiny and we give voice to our creative expression. We lay claim to our space, body, soul, mind and heart. We accept full ownership of ourself, including our shadow and are personally responsible.

Next up was a very persistent swan (you know how much I love an animal guide 😉) and very timely too, as Swans are the symbol of the Goddess Brigid, whom we honour at Imbolc. She was showing herself in oracle cards, appearing in journey’s and in various other places.

Her message is to love yourself first and know yourself. She symbolises the awakening power of self, spiritual evolution, and transformation.

The message feels very strong this month, the time is now. Time to clear out and step up. To make space, to remember who we are and reclaim our sovereignty.

Which syncs in nicely with the Oracle Card for the February, which inviting us to dive deeper into getting to know ourselves.

The Owls Witchy Tip

To plant your intentions for this year ritual:

Buy a small packet of your favourite flower seeds, find a pot that can sit on a windowsill for now. On the waxing moon fill your pot nearly to the top with soil. Now create some sacred space, breathe deeply and spend a few minutes thinking about what you want the summer and the rest of the year to hold for you. Pick a few of these plans and plant a seed for each of them. As you plant the seed name it after your intention. All the time just breathing and visualising your intentions coming true. Once you are done cover the seeds with some more soil and water it. Now water your seeds on a regular basis, tending to your intentions and watch them grow. They will be a reminder for you throughout the summer.

The Wolfs Wild Tip

Imbolc is the gateway to spring. It’s an in-between place. In Shamanism we are very interested in the in-between places. We see these as the cracks between the worlds as a powerful portal for healing.

February can be an immensely powerful time to do Journeywork, and below are some ideas on what kind of journeys you can take:

  • Journey to the lower or upper world to meet your power animal to ask for guidance for the coming year.
  • Journey to specifically tune into the energy of this time of year, for healing to clear out the old and prepare for the new.
  • Journey to the middle world, envisioning the future and putting energy into it, by seeing yourself moving through the coming year putting your plans in action.

If you have never done journey work before, here is a link to a Shamanic Journey by Sandra Ingerman who for me, is my go-to teacher on all things Shamanic. This link is suggested Shamanic Drum Music to use on your journey.

Oracle Card of the Month

Sea Turtle, Stability – Divine Animals Oracle

In the current vibes, it’s hard to feel stable, emotions are all over the place and we are feeling stuck. In February we are still in transition between Winter and Spring, it’s the in-between place… we hunger for more, but right now we have to be patient.

The Sea Turtle magic flows to us with stability and resilience. She is asking us to ride her wave of magic with ease and surety. Don’t allow yourself to feel pressured, follow the currents and hitch a ride.

She is inviting us to operate from a stable base, so instead of skimming the surface, dive deeply into study or learning your craft. Delve a bit deeper into getting to know yourself.

Let us nurture the spirit of renewal and embrace the light of the lengthening days.

Blessed Be

The Power of Working with Archetypes

Text to Speech

What is an archetype and how do we harness their power to create a conscious and authentic life?

Archetypes classify specific, recognisable, and universal traits.  Humans seem to have an instinctive sorting system of how we relate to people and it doesn’t matter where we are from in the world, the same archetypes exist.

Jung is seen as the father of archetype psychology. He believed that archetypes exist in the collective unconscious and that stories and myths are an intrinsic part of our development.  According to Jung, the human mind retains aspects of our ancestors and this forms the basic foundations of being human. Jung also believed that our personality holds aspects of all archetypes, but that we are dominated by one archetype.  How these are expressed, depends on the stories that shape our upbringing, our values, character, culture, and the world around us.

Jung identified 4 major archetypes but maintained that there were many more.

  • The Persona: who you present to the world;
  • The Anima or Animus: the Anima/Animus is the mirror image of our biological sex.  The unconscious feminine in the masculine and the unconscious masculine in the feminine;
  • The Shadow: those things that society may think as unacceptable or what your own values consider unacceptable;
  • The Self: this is the unified unconsciousness and consciousness of an individual.

Other Archetypes include the Mother, the Hero, the Warrior, the Child, the Maiden.

There are various ways to work with archetypes:

  • Active Imagination
  • Dream Work
  • Astrology
  • God / Goddess Work

Why do we work with Archetypes?

Archetypes are a powerful teaching tool, that not only gives insight into ourselves, but also how we relate to others.  They trigger emotions and provide meaning.  Archetypes are a doorway to behavioural change and that can offer us a rewarding roadmap to reaching our unique potential and experiencing greater fulfilment in life.

For Jung, the reason for working with the archetypes was to allow an individual to achieve a sense of a cohesive self.

By working with Archetypes, we get to explore new and unknown parts of ourselves, allowing us to consciously create our life, by shaping who we are from the inside out, with conscious intention.

Why work with the Goddess Archetypes?

Working with the Goddess is powerful and alchemical work as she serves as a portal into our femininity.  She helps us to harness the different aspects of our femininity that work together to heal our wounds, expand our sense of self and birth a new way of being.  She supports us with wisdom and power so that we can strut our stuff like the badass goddess's we are!

We all have our own inner goddess and working with a specific Goddess, gives our inner Goddess extra va va voom. We can identify with Kali, see her fierceness in ourselves and allow her to help us bring that positive ferocity out where we need to. This work allows us to honour ourselves the way we understand the goddesses to be honoured.

Working with Goddess Archetypes can assist with:

  • Understanding ourselves and increasing our self-awareness
  • Finding more fulfilment in life
  • Improving our relationship with ourself and others
  • Initiating personal growth through each of the archetypal stages
  • Healing ourselves and the collective
  • Gaining greater understanding of our social belief system

Getting started working with the Goddess Archetypes

  • Read about them and see who / what resonates with you.
  • Invoke an archetype you are naturally drawn to
  • The soul responds powerfully to imagery, find, or create an image of your chosen archetype

Once you have decided which Goddess or Archetype resonates with you, set up an altar in a visible location and place an image of your Goddess on your altar.

Once you have created your altar , quiet your mind by taking a few deep breaths, drawing each breath deep into your belly and focusing on your heart space.  Take a moment to feel into what you would like to bring more of into your life by working with the archetype.

Light a candle and set your intention to invite in your chosen archetype, giving her space to infuse her particular shade of genius into your life.

Write down your invitation on a piece of paper, be very clear and specific on the qualities you are inviting in.  Place it on your altar and meditate on your request.  Let your candle burn for as long as feels right (supervised of course and remember pets are flammable 😉)

As part of your ongoing work with your goddess, you can meditate with her every day and placing seasonal offerings to her, on your altar.

New Moon rituals are a magical way to harness the lunar power of the moon to amplify your intention and desires.

The Goddess is rising.

Blessed Be.

Fionn and Belinda, work with the Goddess in all her forms, as part of their own transformational work and feel called to offer Workshops and Cacao Ceremonies to support others with these powerful teaching tools, which enable us to create a more fulfilling and magical life.
